“Drowning in Information”
“Starving for Wisdom”
We live in a world with information at our fingertips. For those of us like myself, who consider ourselves “life-long learners,” it is a godsend and a curse to have all the information in the world so easily accessible.
I honestly wonder if I might have adult onset Attention Deficit Disorder with my inability to stay on one task for a substantial period of time! Maybe I’m not alone in this feeling…
The ability to learn anything about anything is such an amazing gift. Without the power of the internet, I never would have learned about Bitcoin, the next technological revolution that I am so blessed to be alive through.
For those of us that struggle to move step by step through our learning, the internet can be a minefield of information. As you begin studying one topic, it opens up a doorway to another field/concept/idea that you never knew was connected to your original area of intended study.
I came across the quote from the “father of biodiversity,” scientist E.O. Wilson which helps to illustrate this idea.
“We are drowning in information while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.”
E.O. Wilson
While drowning in information that the internet provides, that often comes at a cost. Without the ability to put in the hours of study on a singular topic of study, wisdom is held just out of grasp.
Depth is Wisdom. It requires humility, time/experience, patience, and consideration.
Breadth is passively ingesting information. Grazing the surface, searching for something to sink your teeth into.
Bitcoin is beautiful in many ways which we will explore. But for the sake of today, Bitcoin is one of the first areas that I have studied that constantly oscillates between Breadth and Depth. Bitcoin presents itself in one way, you dive deep into that specific topic, and then before you know it, you realize all the other pathways of knowledge you need to understand to fully appreciate Bitcoin the network and asset.
I am building a course series that has the aim of providing an accurate breadth of knowledge, scaffolded in such a way to encourage you to understand Bitcoin to a deep enough level that you will be willing take action and participate in the Bitcoin economy. Become your own bank and holder of the hardest asset ever created, Bitcoin.
Come with me down your own path of discovery. Hopefully, wisdom is on the other side.
